Round Top is located about 95 miles from Houston in the Hill Country and is the premier destination for European antiques from England, France, Italy and Spain. We recently took a client to the Warrenton/Round Top Antique Fair to shop for doors, mirrors and Mediterranean pots.
We started with a general concept of what types of doors we wanted in each area. In our latest project, we needed a pair of pocket doors into the Library. We prefer to used mirrored panes to create the illusion of a bigger space.
For the powder room, we needed one door with antiqued mirrored panes. We didn't have a certain finish in mind though. We wanted to keep an open mind and see what caught our eye. In the living room, we wanted to use a mirror which we will use as inspiration for a paneling module.
The pantry will be built around the doors we find. We are thinking about using antique shutters for the staple pantry in the kitchen. What do you think?
The best part about Round Top is that you never know what you'll find. We ended up finding the deal of the century on Mediterranean pots and knew that they just had to be incorporated into the decor somehow, so stayed tuned to find out where we put them!
